Reducing dog
hair in your home and car |
|
There are several ways to reduce dog hair in your home & automobile. 1. The first step is nutrition: You can reduce your dog's tendency to shed by adding a nutritional supplement that is specifically created to reduce shedding. It is natural for dogs to
shed their coats twice a year. Dogs who shed excessively all
year may have a medical problem, discuss their coat condition with
your Veterinarian. If you dog's coat seems dry and brittle a
nutritional supplement can be given to your dog to improve the
condition of their coat.
2. The second step is adequate grooming:
Dogs should be groomed
regularly. Bathing and trimming the fur significantly reduces
the amount of hair in your environment.
Depending on your dog's breed, your dog should be professionally
groomed every 6 to 16 weeks. In between grooming there are two things that you can do to reduce the amount of dog hair in your home. 1. Use a forced air dryer to blow the excess dander and hair out of your dogs coat. A force dryer produces no heat, it is simply a powerful force of air. You will be AMAZED how much dander and hair can be removed from your dog by simply blowing the coat once a week. You will see a cloud of dander come off the dog which looks like pollen blowing from the trees (and feels like talcum powder). The blower will separate the coat releasing the dander, dead hair and loose undercoat.
2. After blowing excess dander and hair
from the coat, wipe the fur with a damp towel to collect additional
loose hair. Use a light colored cloth, if it shows a lot of dirt...
it's time for a bath. |
