Our story starts with Caya as a
puppy. As a puppy I would describe Caya’s personality as
a cross between a bumble bee, a furry alligator, and a
not so sane kangaroo. She was a handful. I tried
obedience classes at various places and even got
involved in agility. I thought the more I did with her
the better behaved she would be…the more I could control
her... HA!
It wasn’t until we met Marty did we
actually get it. Marty’s classes were different. It
wasn’t just "SIT," "STAY", "Don’t Bite Your Mother", it
was more. At first I was confused, When are we going to
do obedience stuff?? "Why is Caya riding a rickety old
cart???", "Why are we dragging her around the room on a
blanket??", "Why I am calling Caya faced in the opposite
direction and through my legs!!??" (affectionately
referred to as the "butt call") All of these things
helped Caya gain confidence and us grow together as a
team. Simply put the breeder gave me a dog but Marty
gave me Caya. Meaning I did not even know Caya until we
started to work together to build our connection. I am
happy to say I now know Caya and her me, and today we
are having a blast together. We are still taking classes
with Marty. It is our favorite activity along with
competing in agility as a "team".
I hope you have as much fun as we
have had and are still having, building your connection.
All the best!
